What should I expect at the Vigil?

  1. When exactly does the Vigil start? The “official start time” for our speaker program is 7pm. However, we encourage all to take advantage of our soothing live music, free Narcan, access to resources & our Remembrance Wall, and connecting with other recovery allies and concerned citizens, That all starts at 6:15pm.
  2. Where exactly does the Vigil take place? A precise address to navigate to our outdoor downtown site is 6 South Avenue, right near the intersection with Elm Street.
  3. Is there parking nearby? Yes, there is both street parking and two nearby lots at Morse Court and Park Street. All parking at this time of day is free.
  4. Who are your musical guests? Scott Troyer & Friends serenade us ahead of our program start, while we feature the Pivot Ministries Choir in between two recovery speeches.
  5. Who are the featured speakers? In order of their appearance, we have: a) Paul Reinhardt–intro; b) John Hamilton–MC; c) Aidan, a young man in LT recovery; d) Cini Shaw, Chief Recovery Officer; and then Pivot Choir; e) Ben Tuff–Swim Tuff, f) Chapin Garner & Cheryl Bundy, Clergy Leaders for Candlelight Ceremony, g) Gray Handler, NCHS RAM Council–Community Pledge.
  6. Are there bathrooms nearby? Yes, they are at the Mobil Station, New Canaan Library, and various restaurants on Elm Street: Chef Louis, Elm and Starbucks.

  8. Is there mass transit from NYC to the Vigil? Yes, two direct Metro North options are the 5:13pm and 5:34pm departures out of Grand Central (click here).
