Transitional Housing Pathway Session Summary

On March 15, NCPSG hosted a monthly Pathway Session on Transitional Recovery with Timmy Brooks of Synergy Houses, based in the Philadelphia area. During the session, Timmy shared his life story from prep school lacrosse star to facing 10 drug-related felonies and jail time. While he found support from his family, including his dad who has over 29 years of recovery, he still was incarcerated. For Timmy, engaging in treatment and 12-step recovery worked, and he redeemed himself while attending Cabrini University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as Captain of the NCAA D3 Championship lacrosse team. Tim spent the second half of his presentation discussing the Synergy philosophy: 1) Action-based progression towards a “portable recovery”, 2) establishing and executing responsibilities of adulthood, and 3) connecting with likeminded peers and having fun.

Tim loves the importance of statistics to measure progress, and his programs emphasize the importance of interacting with the family system. One hopeful percentage of Synergy is that 94% of the residents engaged in recovery following their move-out date. Tim fielded many questions from the audience, and is open to any other requests for information by contacting him at timmy@synergyhouses.com or 610-308-2772.
