Peak Mind: Find Your Focus, Own Your Attention, Invest 12 Minutes a Day, by Amishi Jha
In a world where there are always distractors and stresses that vie for our attention, the title of Amishi
Jha’s book is alluring. Only 12 minutes a day to find focus? Sign me up! The author does a great job of
listing the compelling evidence that daily meditation changes the functioning and structure of our brains
for the better. Cortical thickening. Neuroplasticity. Coordination of all our brain’s networks.
Amishi dives deep into the studies, and I found myself skimming some of those sections. By the end,
however, I felt convinced that doing mind exercises regularly (meditations that you can find on Insight
Timer) will make me stronger—just like physical exercise.
NOTE: There is an accompanying PDF that contains all the recommended practices and exercises. Click

ambiguity about a situation, but training the mind so that we can maneuver through those difficult
circumstances with more ease instead of working against ourselves.”
