Community Event on Marijuana

On Wednesday, January 13, 7pm, the New Canaan Parent Support Group is hosting an informative community event on marijuana: Weed Inc with Ben Cort.  The Zoom session—with Q&A moderated by John Hamilton—with focus on the science and data behind today’s marijuana.

Ben Cort is an author, TED Talk speaker, recovery advocate and CEO of a Colorado-based treatment center.  In 2007, Ben co-founded Phoenix Multi-Sport, a nonprofit dedicated to building sober communities around sport and outdoor activities.  More recently, Ben worked in substance use treatment for University of Colorado Hospital.  In 2020, Ben was appointed CEO of the Foundry, a treatment center in Steamboat Springs, CO. 

Ben has gained notoriety from his willingness to discuss the impact of today’s commercialized THC on substance use disorder in Colorado and nationwide.  Ben consults with many professional and collegiate athletic programs to develop recovery-oriented policies for athletes, coaches and their families.

Ben’s TED Talk “Surprising Truths about Legalizing Cannabis” has been viewed over 2 million times.  His book Weed, Inc: The Truth About THC, the Pot Lobby and the Commercial Marijuana Industry was published in 2017.

Ben will present for about 45 minutes, followed by a Q&A session led by John Hamilton, CEO of Liberation Programs, one of Fairfield County’s largest behavioral health treatment organizations. All are welcome to attend, including teenagers.
