I didn’t know the story of Reef Baker, of Greenwich, until his mom Laura reached out to me. He was a young man, full of love and empathy for others, who died of an overdose just after his 16th birthday. His characteristics included kindness towards others, a love of adventure, and cultivating friendships. These traits ring true to me when I think of my own son, Evan. Evan, the family comedian, died just over 9 years ago, and it was in tribute to him that NCPSG was born.
Both Reef and Evan had a pathway to recovery, but did not find it in time. May our August 29 New Canaan Vigil be a testament to the fact that recovery is possible, in all its different pathways. Come hear our speakers, starting with Emcee John Hamilton, New Canaan resident Aidan, Chief Recovery Officer Cini Shaw, Ultra Swimmer Ben Tuff, Chaplain and Co-Pastor Cheryl Bundy, and Senior Minister Chapin Garner.
The details to Reef’s August 21, 11am funeral service. are HERE.
