I believe that the goal of therapy is to help my clients obtain the insight and coping skills they need to create full and satisfying lives. I am able to see a person’s potential, and use their innate strengths to help them rebuild their lives. We do this by creating a therapeutic relationship based on honesty, acceptance and empathy while working towards change.
The interventions that I use most include DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). I am an intensively trained DBT therapist, having completed multiple trainings in DBT including DBT for Couples, and Advanced DBT with Marsha Linehan, PhD. My practice includes weekly DBT skills groups for adult women.
For more difficult behaviors to change, or for trauma related issues, I use EMDR to help clients find more clarity it their lives. EMDR enables clients to move forward from their past experiences that continue to influence their present day thinking and behavior.
