Clinical Social Work/Therapist

I believe in the power of therapy and mindfulness meditation. I’ve been witness to the growth and flourishing of so many people, as they discover and release themselves from age-old blockages and fear. I know the power of releasing the ‘inner critic’ and the value of discovering ‘wise mind.’ My psychotherapy home office is a refuge, where you will have the space to look within, and free yourself from whatever inner cognition(s) are holding you back. I promise to bring you the most effective, evidence-based strategies, including advances in neuroscience, to increase your overall wellbeing and whole-heartedness.

In individual counseling, you receive the space and intensity to help you discover what is blocking your growth and how to make the changes you want in your life. In my view, individual work is the cornerstone of treatment—even in relationship/couples’ counseling, we will sometimes split into individual sessions to help each of you deepen in personal development.

In parent coaching, working with or without your partner and child can open new areas of understanding and help you gain additional behavioral skills. And, working one-on-one to intercept and rewire unwanted neural patterns is essential when learning to manage anxiety and/or depression.

I offer a sliding scale, for those who do not have out of network insurance benefits. My intention is that you and I will set a fee that honors our work together, while being in a range that you can afford.

Certified Addiction Counselor

Location: Fairfield, CT

[accordion id= “lori-williams-cac-interventionist“] [accordion_item title=”Read More” parent_id=”my-accordion”]

Lori Williams, an honors graduate from Housatonic Community College, has been working in the field of recovery since 1999. She did her clinical training at Connecticut Counseling and completed the requirements for Certified Addictions Counselor, International Certification of Addictions Counseling, and a Certificate of Competency in Co-Occurring Disorders from The Connecticut Certification Board.

Ms. Williams received additional training while working as a Detox Counselor, HIV Case Manager, and Residential Clinician for Co-Occurring and Out-Patient clients at several non-profit facilities throughout Connecticut. Williams continued her clinical work as a sober companion and interventionist with a nationally known addictions expert. As a result of working in the recovery field for the past fourteen years, Williams saw the need for a more personal one-on-one approach; working with both client and family members to help negotiate all the various components involved in recovery from addiction.

Ms. Williams has been clean and sober since 1989. She has been given the privilege to see, experience, and understand the courage and commitment not only to get sober, but to stay sober… and live to good purpose. She started Lighthouse Services with the intention of helping “all” people suffering from addiction… including family members who are living with the pain of an addicted loved one.

How We Do It
We connect families with each other and with experts, working with them to get the help their loved one needs and deserves – a good place to start is with our Helpline.
We listen to families and provide a platform for them to share their stories of struggle and success – such as our Stories of Hope and Parent Blog.
We educate families about substance use and strategies they can use to help their loved one.
We empower parents to take early and effective action to address their son or daughter’s substance use, providing expert guidance and compassionate support.
We advocate for systemic change in the way our country addresses addiction, including universal evidence-based treatment options for families and their loved ones – like through those actions available via our Advocacy Center.

Recovery Research Institute

A leading nonprofit research institute of Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, dedicated to the advancement of addiction treatment and recovery.

[accordion id= “recovery-research-institute“] [accordion_item title=”Read More” parent_id=”my-accordion”]

At the Recovery Research Institute (RRI), we present evidence about addiction treatment and recovery.
We hope you will get involved, sign up for our free monthly Recovery Bulletin, & contribute to our understanding of addiction recovery through research.

Addiction is one of the greatest public health crises of our time, with staggeringly high rates of mortality, disease, and disability.

We need scientific research to improve the effectiveness of addiction treatment and recovery efforts, to find out what is and what is not working, and why certain pathways to recovery work for some individuals and not others.

At the Recovery Research Institute, we know that stable and long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug use disorders is possible. Rates of recovery can continue to be improved through focused scientific investigation and a commitment to public education.
