Consider testifying against proposed CT bill which eliminates potency-based taxation. Hearing date is March 11th.

A second proposed bill in CT would overhaul how the state taxes marijuana to an excise tax approach. A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, at 1pm in the Joint Committee on Finance, Revenue and Bonding.
House Bill 5109, introduced by State Representative Jason Rojas (D), would eliminate the state’s current potency-based THC tax and replace it with a flat 10.75% excise tax on marijuana sales.
This bill is based on a discussion among lawmakers about whether potency-based taxes cause a lack of competitiveness of the CT state dispensaries compared to other states like NY and MA that have a flat tax approach. This totally missed the point that what will happen is the state dispensaries will become more competitive in selling higher-potency products, which are associated with higher incidents of addiction, psychosis and schizophrenia.
Please consider sharing your story in opposition to this bill. You can submit testimony online, and make is completely anonymous if you’d like. Here is the link. I submitted written testimony already on this bill, which you can find by clicking here.
I also submitted testimony for another cannabis bill, HB 5350, that promotes increased usage of high-potency products, which you can find by clicking here. The date to submit testimony has been extended, but I’m not sure for how long. To submit written testimony either anonymously or using your name, just click here: https://www.cga.ct.gov/aspx/CGATestimonySub/CGAtestimonysubmission.aspx?comm_code=GL.
Once you have submitted testimony, feel free to send a copy directly to your state legislators. You can look them up by going here: https://www2.cbia.com/ga/get_involved/contact_ct_legislators/-A1
